Installing the latest FFMPEG (manual)

FFMPEG ā€“ a complete, cross-platform solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. Developers are usually run FFMPEG on CentOS 7 installation and we like to disclose some hints regarding manual installation procedure.

Installing the latest FFMPEG on CentOS 7

1. First install the epel-release:

yum -y install epel-release

2. Install the nux repository

yum -y install http://li.nux.ro/download/nux/dextop/el7/x86_64/nux-dextop-release-0-5.el7.nux.noarch.rpm

3. Install ffmpeg and ffmpeg -devel packages

yum install ffmpeg ffmpeg-devel -y

4. Check FFMPEG version:

ffmpeg -version

You should see FFMPEG and modules:

[[email protected] box]# ffmpeg --version
ffmpeg version 4.2.2-static https://johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/  Copyright (c) 2000-2019 the FFmpeg developers
